BIO by Strength and Power Hall of Fame
Barbara was one of the supporters of weightlifting whose contributions are vital yet often overlooked. Barbara began assisting at contests in 1964. She continued to assist until her and her husband David Traylor moved to Texas in 2011. Barbara assisted with scoring, expediting, card and score sheet management, registration and set up and tear down. She assisted with the development of the Northern Piedmont Weightlifting Club in Culpepper in 1972. She assisted her husband David Traylor the 4 years he was Virginia AAU lifting Chairman with correspondence and the organizing and publicizing of contests. Barbara would bring homemade meals and snacks to contests for the lifters which contributed to the socialization and appreciation of being part of the weightlifting family.
Barbara had a full time career in education and raised two very successful children and still found time to support weightlifting.
